  • March is considered high season in Svalbard.
  • Beautiful autumn colors in October.

Shoulder Season (May–mid-June & mid-August–September):

  • Generally mild and clear weather.
  • Fewer crowds compared to high season.
  • Accommodation prices can still be high, especially during festivals.
  • Spectacular scenery with blossom fruit trees, snow in the mountains, and swollen waterfalls from May to mid-June.
  • Best chance to spot the Northern Lights between late September and late March.

High Season (Mid-June–Mid-August):

  • Busiest time with high demand for accommodation and transport.
  • Accommodation prices are lower, except in Lofoten.
  • Weather can be unpredictable, ranging from warm and sunny to cool and rainy.
  • Average summer temperatures around 18°C.
  • Popular tourist destinations can be crowded.
  • In northern Norway, the sun never fully sets during the summer, and in the south, the sun may set around 11 pm and rise at 3 am.
